Blank Maps on Hit The North (East) this Wednesday

By NE1fm Local Music on February 20, 2012

Newcastle indie quartet Blank Maps will be appearing on NE1fm 102.5 this Wednesday, joining Hit The North (East) for an acoustic performance and to promote their latest single.

The official music video for the single, titled “Between You And Me”, is available below, and is their first release since November’s independently successful “Always In The Middle, Never In Between”.

The band themselves have compared their latest work to the output of esteemed outfits including Foals and Mercury Music Prize Winners The xx, and Thom Piddock’s lead vocals on the track have been described as ‘melancholic’.

Having only formed in 2010, Blank Maps have already become prolific curators of new tracks, and the band have already decided to target a Summer 2012 release for an E.P. of new material.

The single was freely released this Monday, and if you like what you hear, it’s available for download on Bandcamp. The download also comes with the B-side “10 Years”.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to catch the band live, they’ll be playing at Cluny 2 on Friday March 9th, supporting another local band that we’ve promoted recently, Styles Make Fights.
