NE1fm Granted Licence Extension to 2017

The NE1fm 102.5 team is delighted to be able to announce that we have been granted a five-year extension of our FM broadcast licence, taking us through to June 2017.

This means that we will hopefully be able to bring you over five more years of radio, covering a diverse range of musical genres not covered anywhere else, as well as coverage of events and local organisations, talk content, and live music from local talent.

As a community radio station, we were nearing the end of our initial five-year broadcast term, which had started on the day of our launch on June 8th, 2007. The extension that we have received ensures that we can continue to air on 102.5 FM beyond the Summer of this year.

We hope that this is as good a piece of news for you as it is for us, and that you’ll be joining us on the next five years of our journey, as we continue to provide unique and locally-produced radio for the communities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead.

There’s more information on NE1fm 102.5 here, and you can find more on how to get involved with the project in a wide range of roles via our Volunteering page.
