New Shows in Chinese and Farsi on NE1fm

This week two new shows will be debuting on NE1fm 102.5, catering for the Chinese and Iranian communities of Newcastle and Gateshead each week on Wednesdays and Thursdays respectively.

On Wednesday at 4PM, Music China will go live for the first time, as the male-female combination of Zuebing Han and Lu Zhao present a one-hour show, in the Chinese language, featuring popular Chinese music and chat.

The following afternoon, again at 4PM, Amir Ahmadi and Pouya Bostani host Radio Paik Iran, the North East of England’s only radio broadcast in the Farsi language, with music and topics of interest to the local Iranian community.

Both shows are part of NE1fm’s new band of ethnic programming, presented in languages other than English. The first such show, Poles In The North East, went live last Tuesday, and is back again this week for a special Valentine’s Day broadcast.

The last time that we had featured regular non-English language shows was during our first year of broadcast, with programmes including Jambo Africa and Sunona broadcast during that time.

Both Music China and Radio Paik Iran can be heard live across Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead on 102.5 FM, as well as both in the area and further afield via this website.
