Today, Theresa May has become the first woman prime minister of the UK in over 25 years!
At 5pm this afternoon, David Cameron finished an emotional farewell speech and handed in his resignation to the Queen. Just 30 minutes later, Queen Elizabeth II invited Theresa May to form a government for the United Kingdom, after which, she gave her first, 3-minute speech as prime minister, claiming that “together, we will build a better Britain!”
She has promised to build a “one-nation” government, promising that all people within the country shall be treated as equals from now on.
Boris Johnson – yes, THAT Boris Johnson – has been named Foreign Secretary, which means he will be involved with Britain’s diplomatic relations with the rest of the world.
Philip Hammond has also been appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer, meaning he will be moving in next door at number 11.
May & Hammond in charge: no Top Gear jokes please.

Also, if you missed it, David Cameron was heard humming a merry tune to himself after he announced on Monday that Theresa May would be taking over as prime minister.
