Show Profiles – Hit The North (East)

Hit The North (East) is NE1fm 102.5′s flagship local music show, broadcast live every Wednesday evening from 7 til 9PM.

Presented by the team of Ian Banach, John Nuttall and Lauren Archer, Hit The North (East) is most focused on the indie rock genre, and is a valuable source of exposure for local bands and musicians, offering their music airplay that they are unable to receive regularly anywhere else.

Bands are regularly featured on the show in the form of their studio recordings, but also occasionally perform live in the NE1fm studio, and feature in interviews and live performances recorded elsewhere in the area especially for the show.

Local artists appearing in the studio are also able to take part in regular on-air features, and play and give exposure to a selection of their favourite tracks to the Hit The North (East) audience.

Local music aside, Hit The North (East) also features an eclectic range of indie, alternative and electronic acts from further afield, ranging from forgotten classics to the latest releases, which are put under the microscope in the acerbic reviews feature Vinyl Score.

Hit The North (East) is fronted by Ian Banach, John Nuttall and Lauren Archer. John and Ian have previously presented other shows on the station and were the initial presentation team behind the show, with Lauren joining the regular on-air team in 2011, having previously broadcast on student radio in the area.

The show launched as Hit The North in September 2010 before a minor name change, and is a continuation of NE1fm’s tradition of promoting local talent, becoming the natural successor to The Live Session, NE1fm’s first local and live music show, which ran from 2007 until 2009.
