Some of our Open Access Programming is broadcast from outside events
From Monday to Saturday between 10AM and midday, NE1fm 102.5 features 14 hours of Open Access Programming, consisting of hourly blocks of broadcast time that can be booked by prospective presenters and members of the community.
Every week, individuals new to radio, seasoned presenters debuting on NE1fm and community groups all feature as part of this programming, along with experimental and other one-off broadcasts.
In-house this programming is referred to as the “Open Slots”, and as well as offering a voice to the community, it exists to allow our team of experienced trainers to assist in improving the presentation skills and technical abilities of new and inexperienced on-air volunteers.
Some broadcasts are only heard once on NE1fm, while others regularly appear and graduate to the full NE1fm schedule. Recent graduates include Classical NE1fm, Glory Days and The Late Show.
If you would like to book an ‘open slot’, call (0191) 240 1025 between the hours of 10AM and midday from Monday to Saturday. We operate an equal opportunities policy on bookings, and therefore all slots are offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Note: We welcome bookings from under-18s, however you must declare this when booking the slot. Under-16s will be required to attend with a parent or legal guardian. Additionally, if you are wheelchair-bound, we will need to know this in advance in order to arrange use of our accessible second studio.
